A Quickie from Delia
Check out Delia, the saucy minx!
Recently I have been baking a rather lovely fruit loaf based on a recipe by the lady herself. It’s an apricot, apple and nut concoction and tastes great with the afternoon cup of cha.
I have baked this loaf several times and tweaked the recipe for slightly more nutritious and improved results. The original recipe can be found here. My recipe follows.

Back to Business
It’s business time.
I’ve been embarking on various entrepreneurial adventures since the age of 21 when I got my first ‘professional’ job. As a new graduate I knew that the 9 - 5 (or midnight as it was in my case) life was not for me. After learning the industry standards and the company standards it was just a matter of churning out the same projects, the same designs...

A Green Drink
As promised here’s a recipe for a green drink known as Avocado Milk. It involves an avocado, milk & maple syrup and is filling enough to have as a meal - breakfast perhaps.
Ingredients:
I ripe avocado
2 large glasses of full cream unhomogonised good milk
2 - 4 tablespoons maple syrup (depending on how sweet you prefer things)
Method:
1. Peel, deseed and roughly chop the avocado.

Are All Links Created Equal?
The web is all about links, right? So, starting a web start-up is the ultimate fair playground where all links are created equal. My start-up URL holds as much weight as your startup URL. It’s the virtuous future for fair-play businesses, less of that schmoozing around, leveraging your old boy network and using your dad’s connections. Just build an amazing product, speak to your...
Abducted by Audio Aliens
I’m back after a period of abduction by little audio aliens over at Said.fm land.
As you may know Said.fm is my first web startup and after a period of lots of heads down work followed by a period of analyzing the analytics and user feedback we have decided to wind down Said.fm.
My Co-founder (aka Pot and Pan, aka Abdel Saleh) and I are quite excited about embarking on a new start-up...

Rice Balls
This recipe comes courtesy of my friend Misato who introduced me to the amazing delicious and nutritious rice balls. The beauty of this recipe is that you can fill the middle of the rice ball with a variety of things but here’s the classic one to get you going.
Rice Balls:
1/2 cup brown sushi rice
Toasted nori seaweed sheets
Umeboshi (japanese pickled plum-apricot type of fruit,...
Edinburgh, Snow & A Kitchen
Hello! I’m still here, and have found myself a temporary home at my parents up in Edinburgh before re-locating back to London Town. My random writings and recipes have been somewhat neglected while Pot and Pan and I have been running about London looking for a place to live and work from. With a place lined up that we move into next week, I’m spending a few weeks up in Edinburgh...
Cookie Ritual
When it’s been a long hard day Pot and Pan and I have developed a rather comforting and relaxing ritual - milk, cookies and Frasier. The Frasier affair began over a decade ago and has slowly strengthened into a full blown obsession, having watched every series back to back, we have admittedly overcome the addiction, passed our withdrawal jitters and are now in that comfortable place where...

Sakina's Carrot Halva
My mum makes this awesomely delicious dessert called carrot halva. She has this pact with my dad that if he labours over grating all the carrots then she’ll make the halva; it’s kind of cute seeing them pottering about the kitchen in the halva preperation. Halva is made in lots of countries but this particular one is native to India / Pakistan, it’s a warming spiced sweet...
Kohlrabi, my little alien dish
Recently I’ve been opening my fruit and vegetable box, delivered courtesy of Abel and Cole, to find an alien plant; kohlrabi. I first spent a while examining it, smelling it and then deciding what to do with it. It looks awesome by the way, in a proper extraterrestrial object stylee kind of way. Some googling led me to believe it might be a nice addition to soup, so Pot and Pan and I...
Cardamom Shortbread = Nan Khatai
Happy New Year! It’s 2011 - woaah!!
You know when you’ve eaten something as a child and whenever you eat something familiar as an adult you’re reminded of that nostalgic flavour but aren’t able to identify what that thing was - well, this is it for me, Nan Khatai.
I’ve recently re-discovered these biscuits and realised that they’re very similar to another...

Warming Spiced Fruit Crumble for Winter
In my quest for a healthy nutritious pudding to keep away the winter blues I’ve come up with this rather cosy recipe that I’ve been making for the last few weeks. I’ve been experimenting with this recipe for some time, but the last batch turned out to be awesomely delicious (not to blow my own trumpet or anything!). The spices add a warming glow to anyone who is braving the...

London: Kitchen-less but Monmouth-full
I have landed, suitcase in hand and laptop on my back in London town. Pot and Pan and I are going to be rooting ourselves here for the mid to long term future so we’re busy bees looking for shelter. Of course this means I am kitchen-less for a while and it’s going to be tough but this morning fond memories of our first move to this fantastic city, over 4 years ago, drifted back to...
California Dhal
Lucky me - today I got my first delivery box from Green Hearts Family Farm, and it was like opening a present. As I unpacked each organic fruit and vegetable I was blown away with the intense aromas. Green bell peppers, canary melon, fuji apples, braeburn apples, bartlett pears, dino kale, pasture raised eggs, garnet yams, yellow onions, garlic, iceburg lettuce, cherry tomatoes (little red,...
A Meeting in a Laundromat / Cafe
Today I talked business in a laundromat! Located on Folsom St, fringing on the rather seedy yet curious Tenderloin neighbourhood in downtown San Francisco, Brainwash is a cafe and laundromat in one - brilliant!
Laundromats in this city seem to be dotted around everywhere, back in the UK I rarely catch sight of one, never mind going in and sipping on some coffee. Admittedly I was intrigued...
The Journey Began
Hello, anyone there?… nope?… ok, to myself then:
The time is here, I’m quitting talking about doing it and actually doing it - starting my blog.
As suggested by my title I will be writing about and sharing thoughts on pakora butties and other nomadic food experiments adventures. When I first thought about writing this blog I began, along with my old pot and pan, a rather...
